Retro Web

July 16, 2018

They say that time flies when you're having fun. Being a product of the 1980's, it never ceases to amaze me just how far digital technology and the internet at large have come in the past thirty-plus year. It all feels like the blink of an eye to me. The idea that there are 'retro' aspects of the internet and internet websites seems very disconcerting. But looking back at how rapidly and ceaselessly that web design and web design trends have changed in a few short years, it can't be denied that if your site remains static for an extended period of time it will almost certainly run the risk of showing its age in functionality, visual fidelity and overall design.

An important part of being a web designer is maintaining your grip on design trends and innovations, lest you be lift in the pixelated dust. Just take a quick jaunt through the Way Back Machine (link below) over at the Internet Archive and you can see just how much websites have changed over the past decade.

With that in mind, I launched a new promotion recently, the aim of which is to provide a few Cairns based business owners with a chance to see what their more 'retro' looking website might look like through the lens of some modern web design techniques. Check out the accompanying video below, or find the full promotion details on the Sand Facebook Page.
